Eason is probably the most underrated QB in the country.

I’m not sure Peterson would have started him over Browning anyways because Browning was a 4 year starter, but if Eason was under center for last years Washington team they are likely a playoff team.

If only he had an OSU connection. Did he visit OSU when he was coming out of high school?

I know you’re being facetious, but I’ll answer the question as if you weren’t. Eason is a pro style QB that wouldn’t have really been on Urban’s radar since that was pre Ryan Day arriving as OC. If Urban wouldn’t have brought Day in to run the offense then it’s likely Joe Burrow wins the job last year because he was more mobile, who knows what happens with Haskins, Fields probably heads to Norman, LSU still doesn’t have QB. That’s a really long way of saying, no there was not mutual interest between OSU and Eason out of high school.

Yeah then Fromm goes up to South Bend and knocks off ND. Pretty hard to take a guy out that isn’t doing anything to lose you games and replace him with a gunslinger type like Eason who is harder for an OC to reel in. Kirby is as conservative of a coach as there is in college football. He’s Kirk Ferentz with 5 stars at every position.

 

Eason his freshman season completed only 55 percent of his passes with 16 tds and 8 interceptions. Fromm with basically the same group the next year which was his true Freshman year threw 24 touchdowns, 7 interceptions and 62 completion percentage. Not to mention took his team an overtime away from a title. I don't know a coach in the country that would have went back to Eason after those stats and results. Then the next year with Fields on the team Fromm throws for 30 TDs. So once again I am not sure any coach would have made the change to Fields.

 

Fields definitely is a more gifted player than Fromm. Being more gifted doesn't always mean better. Ryan Leaf was more gifted than Peyton Manning, we saw how that worked out. There is a long history of more talented and gifted qbs not being as good of qbs as lesser talented qbs.

 

Fields currently is in a system that made a 3rd string qb look amazing and win a title game with no career starts going into the 3 biggest games of the season. The OSU system makes every qb look amazing in college. How that translates to NFL is a wait and see.

There’s literally not a single coach on the offensive side of the ball at OSU that was on the national championship team. Urban’s gone, Herman’s gone, Warriners gone, Draytons gone, Smith is gone. Just thought I’d point that out.
