Montrelle Irvin is the new head coach at Taylor County after coaching at district rival Marion County since 2011-12. While at Marion he went 128-108 with 2 district championships and 2 region tournament wins.

Of course it's a local search. There are few folks who are going to uproot and move any distance for a stipend-based coaching position. Even fewer who may not be teachers and wouldn't be getting the paid teaching position that might be available. I'm not sure what you think a high school basketball coach in Kentucky makes as a salary, but it isn't much. At least, not enough to make a living.

Do you think they actually searched or that not many coaches from afar sought the position?

I do know a Scott County assistant coach was interviewed for the position.
