Talks started back in the Fall of 2018 & have continued into 2019. Here is an excerpt of an article from WrestleTalk:

Late last year, reports began to emerge that tennis giant Serena Williams was is talks to transition into the world of professional wrestling and join WWE. Since then, little has been made public in terms of how or even if these talks are developing.

As recently reported by the reliable Twitter account Slice Wrestling, however, conversations between Williams and WWE are continuing to progress with Stephanie McMahon leading the charge to finalize a deal.

If Ronda Rousey is any indicator of what the WWE is going to do with a star from another sport then no thanks.

Besides, the WWE Women's Division is loaded with talent and Williams is not needed.

I wish they would have done two things differently with Rousey:

1) Give her a slow burn, as opposed to catapulting her to the top within three months.

2) At some point, make her a heel. I get bringing her in as a face, but she would be much better as a heel.

Regarding number one, I understand to an extent why they shot her to the top quickly (because of her contract).

One thing that she's done that is really good is she is going to make the women a focal point, and very possibly the Main Event, of Wrestlemania.

In the ring, Rousey is really good. On the mic, she's awful.

What does her contract have to do with it? Is it going to be a short stay in the WWE?

Also, I agree she needs help on the mic.

She is a very good wrestler but her style is so much different than the other ladies it is hard to find the right woman/partner/adversary to showcase everything Ronda can do.

She's not leaving the company altogether, but supposed to be taking an extended leave following Wrestlemania. Possibly to start a family.

Good luck to Ronda and all, family first, but that is a joke if true.

I can't stand what the WWE has done with her. Terrible.

I think she has looked the best with Nia Jax. I thought their match at Money In The Bank was outstanding. Perhaps that's because Nia is just bigger and stronger than the other women, therefore she can absorb more of Ronda's offense.

What I like about Rousey is she's willing to take punishment from everyone. She reportedly told Becky Lynch to hit her as hard as she could during their altercation at Elimination Chamber. And Becky did just that, cutting her head open.

Right, Rousey is like Lesnar in that regard, hit me with your best shot.

I think Rousey is very talented but I think the WWE blew it with her, that is all.
