Congratulations to Raceland. Russell will be better next season IMO. This season was a learning experience. Most, if not all of our scoring comes back next year.

Tough one to lose up 6 with 2 minutes to play. But you are correct they will learn from this. They have some nice young talent.

Once again, Russell's inability to put teams away in crunch time rears its ugly head. Tonight's result is indicative of their season as a whole. Can't let Kirk Pence bring the ball up the court unattended at the end of regulation and get that good of a look at the one shot Raceland needed to extend the game. Gotta credit Pence, though. It takes onions for a sophomore to pull the trigger on a shot that could either prolong the season or end it.

With everyone a year older and when Goodman returns from Injury, Russell could very well be in position to make a run in the region next season.

Nate Wheeler is the only senior who really contributed significant minutes this season. They'll return about 98% of their scoring next year. Russell should take a major leap forward in 2019-2020.

Yeah, that's why I think they could make the region tournament and win the 63rd district. They could also make a good run in the region tournament for sure. It's been a while(2005/06) since Russell has won the region. I'd like to see Groves and Russell win the region.

Had Jon Vanhoose not got hurt we probably win it in the 06/07 season as well.

The experience gained this season by the younger guys (Jachimczuk, Bell, Downs, and Rose before his injury) plus another year in the gym should help make Russell pretty formidable next season. Bell, especially, has a high ceiling. They'll have one of the top shooters in the area in Tristan Miller and a true big man in Bechtel. Throw in Goodman and Max Cantrell, who contribute a little of everything including energy, and you've got the makings of Russell's best team in years.
