Congratulations BG!! I don't think I have ever been to a game that had that many holding calls on one team. The refrees were really tough on the Purples, and didn't really allow their offense to get in a groove. But you guys never put your heads down, and you never gave up. Emmanual Talyor is a monster back. His straight-ahead speed packaged in 190 pounds makes many a defensive player shiver. The monster middle linebacker from BG met him on a goal line stance, and laid a hit on him that neither one will forget for a long time. Hoptown covered the big pass play well all night, but BG just ran it down their throats in the second half. A fullback-Chase Carpenter(I think)-did a great job. He was a man on a mission. Always an exciting night when BG meets up with Hoptown, and tonight didn't disapoint. Good luck next week!

That we are, Ox!:dancingpa :dancingpa The game had its rough edges, but some late adjustments by Kevin Wallace iced this game, and the guys just took control. It was the most one sided win over the Tigers since the Purples spotted the Tigers 14 points then rattled off 40 of their own in the Greenview Heritage Bowl in 1997.

The Purples got the scoring started at 4:28 in the first when senior Avery Hibbitt ran it in from two yards out. Senior K Casey Tinius, who scored the first goal in the state soccer championship, booted the PAT and the Purples were up 7-0.

Early in the second qtr, Tinius missed a 37 yd FG att, but the Tigers were called for roughing the kicker, and the Purples got the ball on the Tiger ten. The next play, Hibbitt scored on a ten yard blast, and Tinius knocked through the PAT again. 11:44 left, second qtr.

Later in the quarter, Hoptown senior QB Chris Thomas scores on a short six yd run of his own. However, the K, Hayes, missed his attempt and the score remained 14-6.

A wild moment happened inside the BGHS ten at the end of the half, when Thomas made a bee line for the goal line. However, officials ruled that he lost posession of the ball before breaking the plane, and Ryan Beard made a huge score saving recovery.

Early after a BGHS turnover, Hayes kicked a 37 yd FG of his own, and it closed the lead momemtarily to 14-9.

Thst was it. Tinius hit a 46 yd FG with 4:41 left in the third qtr. Steelman scored on runs of four and 16 yards out, and they put the game away.

Here's hoping that the Purples can keep this going next week up in Louisville as the guys will take on Central's Yellowjackets for the first time ever. See you all in 5A next year, Tigers!:thumb:

A closer game then the final score definitely. BG jumped out to the quick

14-0 lead but Hopkinsville responded well but missed 2 scoring opportunites before halftime.

Hopkinsville had success moving the ball on the BG defense. A fumble for Hoptown on their opening drive inside the BG 20 was a killer. On that drive Hoptown completed a 3rd & 14 from their own 20. BG took full advanstage of the fumble and got the opening score. On their opening drive they completed a 3rd & long on a blown coverage by the Tigers secondary.

Hopkinsville had success on offense running some of their "Pistol" package with Chris Thomas and E.T. doing the 2-man game out of it. Chris Thomas also did a good job of finding the open WR against the BG defense. Twice he got pressure and eluded sacks for big losses and ran for 10 and 8 yard pick-ups. This might have been Chris's best passing game of the year when you add in stats and decision making. Emanuel Taylor had is usual game which is what the Tigers needed to have a chance to win. Real proud of the season both Chris & E.T had this year along with the leadership they showed.

Defensively Hoptown played well until the end. BG's (Keving Wallace) loves the "Vear & Qucik Pitch". This year he doesn't have that true FB to run the vear like he wants against most teams. But he has the RB in Hibbitt to run the quick pitch. Hoptown used their speed to contain most of their outside stuff like quick pitch. I know Wallace and some BG fans said their was too many holding callls on them but we all have our complaints. Coach Wallace has done a good job this year of adapting and using his other athletes and letting Steelman and above average QB make plays with his arm. In the final minutes of the game BG did what they should have done and ran right at a undersized Hoptown defense.

The better team won but Hopkinsville showed they did belong on the same field with the elite team in Western, Kentucky. BG has a great senior class and are well coached by Kevin Wallace.

Allan Yeddo a seldom used senior DE for Hopkinsville was forced to play in this game because starting DE Cardell McGregor left with a seperated shoulder and back-up Gabe Ladson was out being disciplined by the Coaching staff. Yeddo got a interception in the 3rd that led to a Hoptown FG (Would have been nice to put that in the endzone). Yeddo later tackled Avery Hibbitt on a quick pitch for a loss. Also thought the 2 sophomore transfers Darrick Dillard (Atlanta) and Vic Moulden (Ft. Campbell) played well at FS. They got lost back there a couple of times but for the most part they played well.

Looking forward to next year for Hopkinsville already. They return 5 starters on offense & 8 of their 1st rotation players. Defensivey they return 7 starters and 5 of their 1st rotation players. Throw in a good sophomore class and freshmen class that has the best mixture of linemen and skill kids and that is why Hopkinsville fans feel good about the future of the program. They won't possess that "Star" name like a E.T. or a Pulley but will have good football players.

Good Luck to BG the rest of the way!

Hats off to Hoptown for a great game. Taylor is extremely talented. He should definitely be playing at the next level. QB did a very nice job too. The Hop/BG match up is always a good one! Although this game was not as nerve racking as last year's game, I never relaxed until midway thru the 4th qtr. Best of luck next year....will Hop. be moving to 5A as well?
