kyag Posted December 21, 2018 Posted December 21, 2018 Conner gave this one away. Missed free throws cost them the game. Congratulations to Newport, Harding took over in the second half.
Big Fundamental Posted December 21, 2018 Posted December 21, 2018 Didn’t expect it to be this close, but Conner has a nice team out in Hebron. They play hard and very business-like.
PP1 Posted December 21, 2018 Posted December 21, 2018 Conner should have won. They went to a stall tactic at around the 4-minute mark or at least it looked like that is what they were doing. It seemed awfully early to do that. On the last play of regulation, Newport misses the first three, Conner would have been better served to just stand there. Let Newport get it and score. The only way they tie is by contesting a three.
kyag Posted December 21, 2018 Author Posted December 21, 2018 Short bench tonight for Conner., only used 6 players. Cole Skiles was out with a leg injury, hopefully he returns on Saturday. Could have used Skiles for rebounding but Marcum stepped up and had a very nice game tonight.
Big Fundamental Posted December 21, 2018 Posted December 21, 2018 Conner seems to have a lot of young talent. Could be very nice the next couple of years.
kyag Posted December 21, 2018 Author Posted December 21, 2018 Newport really focused on Scott in the 1st half. Ginn led the way the 1st half, had 10 points I think in the half. If I remember correctly Scott might’ve had 4 points? I know he scored for sure one basket. Hicks and Marcum played well, probably Marcum’s best game. Hicks did a nice job on defense, really caused some problems for Newport’s offense. Second half Scott scored most of his points, not sure of his total but had a nice 2nd half. The foul at the end of the game just really destroyed Conners momentum, this one will taste sour for a while.
JackieMoon Posted December 21, 2018 Posted December 21, 2018 Sounds like a great game. Didnt expect it to be this close. Another close win for the Wildcats!
Big Fundamental Posted December 21, 2018 Posted December 21, 2018 Newport seems to be getting an opportunity to learn some early lessons that should prepare them for late in the season and tournament time. Good for Ginn, Scott, Hicks, and Marcum.
