Surprised by this score!!

When is the last time this happened? Been many years.

I looked on the KHSAA scoreboard. I can’t find a win vs North. Beat South December of 14, beat Oldham December of 08. Those are the latest wins over Oldham teams.

North Oldham lost to Ballard by 2. This is a reaaly big surprise. Good for the Raiders.

Maybe not such a surprise. The two teams were ranked 13th and 14th in the region in the pre-season rankings....

 

North is still finding themselves after getting a new coach one week before the first practice. They didn't have the summer schedule to work with David Levitch and learn his system. Levitch is dramatically changing the offensive and defensive schemes at North, resulting in good games (Ballard, even in the loss) and bad games (Trimble). North was also missing their point guard due to injury.

 

All that said, the better team won Wednesday. This Trimble team came out with a different attitude than what I've seen for some time. Previous Trimble teams came to Oldham / South Oldham / North Oldham and were tentative even as they walked on the floor. Their eyes told the story: They didn't think they could win.

 

This team took charge early, driving repeatedly to the rim, and playing poised, confident, aggressive basketball.

 

How these two would split a 7 game series might (or might not) be favorable to North, but the bottom-line was this: Wednesday was ONE GAME and during this one game, Trimble was the better team. Period.

 

As always, I love watching Reece Webster play. Really took charge.

 

Impressed by the Hare kid for North; he was coming off the flu, so he didn't start, but he came off the bench to lead North in scoring and rebounds.

 

Great game; lots of fun to watch.
