Newport, Lloyd and Holy Cross aren’t gonna provide much more competition than Bellevue, Dayton and Ludlow did.

Why? Newport has struggled to get kids to come out, and the last two times they played Beechwood it was a combined score of 138-38. I don’t know when the last time Lloyd beat Beechwood, and the games are usually lopsided and right now Holy Cross is closer to Dayton then they are Ludlow. With what Beechwood has in the high school right now, for the next few years, the district games will not be close.

On a side note, I believe I speak for many Beechwood fans when I say we are looking forward to moving to 2A next year. Honestly, these lopsided 1A district games are not fun nor entertaining. I believe the Beechwood faithful will be as happy to move to 2A as the 1A teams will be to see them move up.

 

There’s nothing disrespectful about that whatsoever. The overall state of NKY 1A football just isn’t close to Beechwood and hasn’t been for a long time. Even when Beechwood was more successful back around 2005 and before, other teams were more competitive compared to now.

Lloyd will compete but will be overmatched year in and year out. Newport will be better than Holy Cross and in some years better than Lloyd. But ultimately, Beechwood will walk to a district title every year.
