The Professional

Featured Replies

Anyone seen The Professional (aka Leon: The Professional) starring Jean Russo, Natalie Portman (in her debut) and Gary Oldman?

It's an older movie from 1994. I don't know why but this has always been a movie I really enjoyed, although the relationship between Natalie Portman and Jean Russo is a little odd. I am not sure I know anyone else that has seen it. I just watched it again this week.

If that's the one where he's an assasin and he takes her in? If so, then yes, but it's been a very, very long time.

It’s a great movie! Gary Oldham is awesome in it.

You got it. He's an assassin, or as they reference in the movie multiple times, he's a cleaner.

Yeah he is. Read that the scene when he screams "Everyone" after telling the guy to bring everyone was meant to be a joke but they liked it so much, they left it in.

What do you think the drug was that he took in those pills?

I always assumed it was some type of speed or ADHD type medicine (I don’t think he had ADHD just some people take it to stay wired). The guy that directed it I believe is the same guy that would later do Fith Element and maybe did Le Femme Nakita before.

You are corrected about him doing those movies as well.

Apparently Mathilda was based off a 13 year old that he fell in loved with and then they had a baby together when she was 16, which is the legal age for consent in France. I was bored yesterday and I looked up some stuff about the movie.

Also said there was a scene that didn't make the American version of the movie that would have made people much more uncomfortable about Leon and Mathilda's relationship.

I know there is a scene not in the American version where he takes her on a hit. I’m pretty sure I’m remembering that right. They are on top of a building and there is a limo. I’m pretty sure there is the scene in both where she shoots a jogger with like a paintball shot. I’ve watched both versions so I get somethings mixed up. That and it’s been a long time since I’ve watched the movie.

I just looked up the differences. I now remember the scene with her drinking and I thought the seduction scene was in both. I don’t remember them torching the drug dealer stash.

This is going to sound stupid weird...but, wasn't there some deal about a plant he had? Or maybe she had it? Or maybe that was from a different movie. It's Friday and my brain is shot. :lol2:

Léon had a plant. At the end she takes it with her. It was his companion until her. One of the movie posters is the two of them walking and her carrying the plant.

That one and "Pigs are much nicer than people. "
