Pretty even match ... both played similar styles. Summit scored first off a rebounded shot. Birds first goal came in second half from a PK ... handling in the box. Birds had more of the ball in the second half which created more chances. Summit had a few dangerous counter attacks but didn't capitalize.

 

Coaches decision left a few Birds on the bench to start the game and a few who didn't see time until the second half. When the team was at full strength in the second half they were more difficult for Summit to handle.

Care to elaborate on this a little? Based upon what I have read elsewhere, it would appear that there are some that are playing for themselves and not the team?

Was informed that the decision to sit players was related to minor discipline issues associated with tardiness and listening skills. Didn't seem like a significant issue and I applaud the coach for handing out a little discipline and still getting a result. And your second question/comment seems like an overstatement based on observing last night's game. Plenty of combination play creating chances. Take your axe elsewhere.

That last question was based upon what was stated by a player commenting on something that was talked about before the game by Nina Kearns. Have no axe for anything. The administration made an excellent choice in the coach they chose and he has surrounded himself with quality assistant coaches as well.

Punishment was served and the players apologized and moved forward. Not sure what was said by a player after Coach Kerns pregame talk but since the shed door was closed not sure how anyone else outside of the team heard this. What’s discussed between this team and the coaches as it pertains to soccer should probably be kept in house.

Good win for Highlands. Summit Country Day has won a couple state championships in recent years.

Well like I said, not sure why something was said about the pre game talk or the tweets but Coach Dean and his staff has been delivering that team message since the season started. I like the message he is delivering. On to tomorrow and the match up with West Jessamine, if the weather cooperates.

Girls went to another bathroom by the concession stand since the other one was full. Benched for half a game. Others didnt start because of being late due to a wreck on the exit ramp due to bad weather.
