Somerset at Beechwood - Last year, Mother Nature helped make this game closer than most thought it would've otherwise been. The Tigers and Briar Jumpers battled in the slop until Beechwood prevailed 7-0. Each team is coming off Week 1 beatdowns of ranked teams from each other's class - Beechwood over Lloyd, and Somerset over Williamsburg.

 

Danville at Boyle County - The 2017 edition of the Showdown in Titletown cast aside pregame expectations and turned into a defensive battle. The Ads emerged victorious on a game winning field goal by Nathan Hazlett. This time around, the pregame expectation is that the Rebels are simply too good and could run away with the win.

 

Paducah Tilghman at Mayfield - One of the oldest rivalries in Kentucky high school football. This has been a very one sided series over the past decade or so. But through two games this season, the Blue Tornado look better than they have in ages. We've seen this type of promise from PT before, only to have it turn out to be a mirage. One way or another, we should find out a great deal about Tilghman this Friday at War Memorial.

If I were to rank them in order from the game I am most confident in who will win to the game I am least confident in who will win:

 

1. Mayfield - As stated above, history tells us Mayfield wins this game and I expect that to continue this year.

 

2. Boyle County - Danville stubbed their toe last week and Boyle looks even stronger than Corbin.

 

3. Beechwood - It was a close battle last year and Somerset looks very strong again. I think Beechwood wins but it will be the closest of these three games.
