Highlands 3 Newport Central Catholic 0

Game played on Monday night at Tower Park. Report I received was that the Birds got early goal and then wore them down in the second half and netted two more. He also commented that a large and lively crowd was out see the game.

The OZone has been rocking so far this season at Tower Park. The student body has shown up for both boys and girls games. This is a testament to the new principal and AD.

Highlands had trouble breaking down NCC in the first half even with gaining a 1-0 advantage. The 2nd half you could tell that Highlands possession play and spreading of the field really wore down NCC. Very physical game. Two yellows to Highlands players in the 1st half. One was definitely warranted.

This game had all the excitement of a District Championship game. Best of luck to NCC the rest of the season.

So what was the ruckus that took place in the stands?

"Could you describe the ruckus sir?"

"Could you describe the ruckus sir?"

I was not there, but was told that a parent or parents for each team were having a rather heated discussion around the time the third and final goal was scored.

From my vantage point it was an unfortunate misunderstanding between a parent of an NCC player and some Highlands parents. The Highlands administration along with a few neutral parents defused the situation and cooler heads prevailed.

My understanding was it wasn't a misunderstanding. A couple HHS parents were saying get the girl off the field as she was on the ground hurt and an NCC parent confronted them to which they denied. Their were several people who witnessed it and even a couple HHS parents were embarrassed that things like that were said from their side.

Pretty sad and I should be addressed by administration.

It was a misunderstanding. The parents were directing their comments to the NCC coach being on the field to argue a call. The Highlands parents wanted her off the field, not the player. Why would you want an injured player off the field if she is really hurt? Add to the fact that Highlands was up 2-0 when this occurred. The NCC coach came on the field to what most thought to attend to her player. The trainer went to the injured girl and the coach went to the refs. She was right to be upset about the call because the AR was correct in that there was a foul that should have been called against Highlands. You cannot come on the field as a coach though to confront the refs. Hence why the Highlands fans were saying to get her off the field. They were never speaking of the injured player.

Well a couple HHS parents said it was directed at the player as well and it was heard by an NCC person who has no kid on the team that it was directed at the player.

I didn't witness it but just talk to several that were right there. Regardless you should yell down at the coach either, very sad but I'm sure nothing will be said because they hide a lot in that town.

The government is nothing compared to high school when it comes to conspiracies and back door dealings. Lol.

So the two Highlands parents and NCC fan told you it was directed at the player. What exactly did they say that makes them think it was directed at the injured player. Did they call the player out by name or just say “get off the field injured player.” How do you determine if it is was directed at the player or the coach? Especially getting info second and third hand.

And you have never been at a match/game where fans yell at the coach? I have seen that at about every game I have ever been to. Have you ever seen them yell at a ref?

It’s a shame though Highlands has to cover up two parents arguing in the stands.

I was told they said "Pick her up and get her off the field" that wasn't meant for the coach.

I have heard parents yell at coaches and ref's but that still doesn't make it right.

I guess being up 3-0 wasn't enough.
