Is it time to start talking about Pendleton County Softball?

 

Went down Wednesday to catch a game and it was electric. Pendleton routed a good Nicholas County team in walkoff fashion, final was 6-5. Great game; I think there were only 3 errors the whole game. On Monday they beat Harrison County. They will not play Robertson County due to scheduling conflicts (so I'm told). They play both Harrison and Nicholas again next week, but as it stands right now...

 

Pendleton is #1 in the 38th district.

 

What's crazy is they seem to be rolling with a certain momentum. They are 11-1, the one loss occurring in the finals of a tournament at St. Henry against Lewis Co. I'll let y'all debate the strength of schedule, but its still impressive.

 

Oh, and their 7th grade pitcher threw a perfect game against Grant Co in five innings. No hits, no walks, no errors (good job defense)

I'm not nearly plugged into softball like I was when my sister & nieces were playing, but there's no question that Pendleton County softball has made incredible strides. This year's team is really good & very, very young. The present & future are very bright for the Lady Cats.

Young indeed. Apparently their usual lineup (per twitter and roster) has 2 7th graders, 2 8th graders, 3 freshman, 1 sophomore and a senior. They played 2 seniors at Wednesday's game I attended.

In answer to your question, yes it is time to start talking about PC softball. No, there schedule is not loaded with great teams. Pc has only played one team with a winning record. However there are only three other teams in the region that do. Considering that PC is basically playing a JV team age wise, they should be quite proud of their accomplishments thus far. I would imagine the schedule will be beefed up a bit next year and the seasons to follow. Tourney time this year will be interesting and I suspect they may advance farther than most might expect.

Saw Pendleton County today at Bulldog Bash, very impressed, very nice, well coached young team. Hope to get them on our schedule next year.

They are legit. I’ve seen them play several games. The are young but only by age. Several of these girls play travel ball and are seasoned long beyond their years. They don’t get rattled. They have chemistry. These girls like each other. It’s fun to watch. This is not a PC team that you can look past anymore. Also they have a parent that does all the games live via Twitter you can tune in to her and follow along.
