I would like to see him resigned.

 

He brings a veteran leadership that a young team needs.

They could replace his bat in the lineup. Too many good 2B in MLB but must be willing to pay.

 

I've never liked the choice, of play me here or else....Coaches and management decides the team roster, position and whom does/doesn't play. If any player has that, "I either play here or I'm going elsewhere".....than see 'ya.

Part of why I don't like multi-year contracts also. Too much control and power, is given to the players and not always that hunger, desire and motivation, to outperform.

I think they should all be one year contracts and be paid on how you did the previous year.The teams could retain a players rights for multi years but pay them on how they play annually.I would say production would probably go up and I know effort would.I think Rich should be paid for his work last year and if he doesn't produce this next year then let him go.If he had not been doing what he did this year they would have been left in the dust long ago.

I think moving BP to SS and putting a relatively cheap Rich at 2B makes complete sense. It also puts E5 at ease that he won't be sharing PT, you still have Castro available, and you can try out a RH minor-league bat at 1B to share time with Hatte. Plow whatever $$$ you were going to spend on a Soriano or Tejada and get some arms.
