March 24, 20188 yr This happened last Saturday. UConn set an NCAA record for most points in a quarter, 55 in the first, and most points in a half, 95 in the 1st half. They won by 88 points in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Wow!! It makes their 27 point win over Quinnipiac in the second round seem close. They play Duke next.
March 24, 20188 yr UConn is that good, and I’m sure it could have been way worse, but I won’t be told that they didn’t run up the score. UConn being so dominant is bad for the sport from a spectator standpoint.

Their coach wanted to know what the tournament record was for 3-PTA (they were 10 of 57, they got the record). St. Francis shot it within 10 seconds every possession. They pressed UConn the entire game. UConn did not run a fastbreak in the second half. UConn scored on almost every possession in the first half--they shot over 70% and rebounded almost every one of their misses and scored. Every player played at least 10 minutes. You are right in that they could have scored 180 if they had wanted to run in the second half. I doubt the St. Francis coach thought that they ran it up and he probably didn't mind getting into the record books.
