March 16, 20188 yr Anyone pay attention to NAIA men's basketball? Just curious considering there were five schools from KY that made the 32 team feild tournament. The Mid South Conference is real good basketball. Hearing that Thomas More will be out of the Presidents Conference next year, then will go from NCAA D3 to NAIA D1 the following year. And be a member of the Mid South Conference.
March 16, 20188 yr Anyone pay attention to NAIA men's basketball? Just curious considering there were five schools from KY that made the 32 team feild tournament. Thanks for the heads up @#99. The NAIA Tournament is being played in Kansas City through next Tuesday, March 20. The First Round was completed yesterday. All round two games are scheduled for today. Kentucky placed more teams in the field (five) than any other state. Georgetown, Cumberlands, Lindsey Wilson, Pikeville and Campbellsville made the field. Georgetown and Campbellsville advanced. March 16, 20188 yr Georgetown plays at 9 a.m. on a Friday? Why would they schedule a 2nd round game that early?
March 16, 20188 yr Pikeville was the #1 seed & was upset by #8 seed Langston (Oklahoma) earlier Thursday 3/15 63-61. Is Kelly Wells still at Pikeville?

March 16, 20188 yr Author Glad to see other people keep up with this. With so much hype of players in the NCAA, or going to d1 and a few d2 schools, you never hear about all the kids who play at naia schools. I'm all about ky basketball, but I'm rooting for William Penn to win it all. They have been one of the top teams this year, and very successful since they moved to d1 years ago. Pikeville also was a top team this year, never figured on their first round loss. Lot of good players from the state of ky go to naia schools across the country. But most people never hear about them because it's not NCAA D1.....
March 16, 20188 yr A local guy James Pouncy Officiated the NAIA Div 2 National Championship game this week. I believe he is director of Ky Select AAU also...
March 18, 20188 yr Author Final four has LSU Shreveport vs Graceland (Iowa) at 6pm monday. LSU Alexandria vs William Penn at 8. If Graceland and William Penn both win it sets up an all Iowa and all Heart of America Conference final. With Penn bring the season champs and Graceland being the conference tournament champs.
March 18, 20188 yr Author If both LSU teams advance then it's all Louisiana, all red River athletic conference showdown, with one being the tournament champs, the other the regular season champion.
March 21, 20188 yr Author It would be Graceland vs LSU Alexandria in the final, and with a buzzer beater 3, Graceland wins it's first ever naia D1 championship. Also in their first appearance in the tournament. Another first, a championship for the Heart of America Conference . Was not to be for William Penn this year, but they played a great tournament after one of their players died on March 1st just up the street from the University. He was stabbed in an altercation following a minor traffic accident, and died a short time later. Had to weigh on the hearts and minds of the other players.
