As much as I agree on Bengals bad moves I think it was Cleveland that screwed that deal up.

Browns did screw up the trade.

You do realize it is not just the Bengals saying the Cleveland Browns messed it up. Even all national outlets say it was the Browns. Shoot the NFL even stated the Bengals did their part. However for a trade to go through both teams have to send it in, and the Cleveland Browns didn't.

 

There is many things to take shots on the Bengals for. This is not one of them. The Bengals made a perfect deal and had it set up to get a 2nd and 3rd. The Browns failed to know how to finalize a trade to the league office. Which ultimately cost their GM his job.

I'm quite certain the Browns messed this up, and maybe even got cold feet; but if my team was getting high 2nd & 3rd rounders for an unproven backup QB who didn't figure in my plans, I'd have had someone sitting in their offices feeding the fax machine, computer, etc. In business, you can't just sit back & hope things go as planned sometimes. Good front office's find a way to get things done, and bad one's sit back & hope.

Dude you have to be joking. You seriously are trying to act like this is the Bengals fault? How many times in history has any team forgot that they actually need to send the league office the trade. The Bengals did their part. Bengals handled it perfectly actually. It's not like the Bengals and Browns had This in place for days. The Bengals held out on the trade until the Browns called them back shortly before the deadline and agreed to give a 2nd and 3rd rounder. Bengals did their part and got the info in, in plenty of time. There was no reason to think the Browns would forget after agreeing to the trade. The hard part was over, the easy part was turning it in. Plus not to mention I think it just shows even more the Browns simply just messed up and was their fault. Because to save face they could have just came out and lied and said at the last minute and said we decided against doing the trade. I think most would have accepted that reasoning. Never once did they say that. They simply forgot how a trade works to finalize it. Bengals did everything right in this situation. It's actually laughable that you are trying to act like it's their fault or other teams would have been able to prevent the Browns from messing it up.

 

There was no just sitting back and hoping. The deal was done and accepted. All had to be done was a one minute fax to the office by the Browns. A familiarity that all teams accept the Cleveland Browns knew.
