Okay, we're well into the season and many people are ready to declare Ashland the region champions. I'm not ready to do that. I would like to pose a question.

Which 16th region team has the most difficult schedule this season?

The question was in reference to the other 16th region teams.

The Courier Journal Litkenhous rankings are out and I believe that they reinforce the point I was trying to make when I started this thread. Take a look at the schedules so far this year and the records of the teams and consider both as you look at the rankings and then decide if I was out of line posing the question that I did.

Looks to me like they are rated about what they should be. I don't think anybody in the 16th has played what would be a hard or tough schedule. imo

I won't disagree with you on the rankings being about right at this point in the season but some teams do have tougher schedules than others. Some because of stronger teams being scheduled and some because of a very high percentage of the games being away games and some a combination of both. All I'm really trying to say is that I am not yet ready to concede a 16th region title to any team. Of course time will tell. It always does.

Not sure what you are getting at probably the top two teams right now (Ashland, Boyd) I would say Boyd played a little tougher schedule maybe. With games against Johnson Cent. And Ballard but the fact is they still haven't beat Ashland in two tries. While Morgan's record looks impressive in looking at it closer I don't think any team of their 13 wins has a winning record. There two losses a 4 point loss to an average Lewis Co. (8-7) and a 19 point loss to a very good Pikeville team.

All I'm really trying to say is that yes at this point that Boyd County and Ashland are considered favorites by most people but I can see two or three other teams as contenders. I would go a step further and say that both Boyd County and Elliott County have played a harder schedule to date than has Ashland.

I definitely think Ashland is the team to beat. Not saying others cannot challenge them. Morgan has beaten one team with a winning record, that is Bath county at 7-6. So Morgan's 13-2 record isn't as good as it looks on paper. Elliott county and Boyd's schedule have been better than all of the other teams I think. Regardless I feel like the 16th region is way down from top to bottom. More so than usual. I would not be surprised for it to come down to Ashland and Boyd in the regional finals.
