Bishop Brossart 50 St.Henry 43

Recommended Posts

Bah Humbug.

The good. Had a nice pregame meal at Dominic's just over the hill from Brossart (good Lasagna). Elliot Berling had a nice game for the Crusaders. Schaffer did a nice job rebounding.

Brossart runs their sets and get the people they want to get shots where they want. Also they ran their backdoor play to perfection at least twice out of timeouts.

St.Henry trailed most of the game and took a brief lead late, but then got outplayed down the stretch.

Congrats to the Mustangs on the W.

Never thought I would say this BUT the Mustags struggled from beyond the arc tonight. Zach Hamberg hit the first two 3-Pointers that he attempted and then the team went 2-16 from beyond the arc.

Mustangs ran out to an 8-0 lead to start the game and led 19-11 at the quarter stop and 29-21 at intermission. St. Henry played inspired ball the third quarter outscoring the home team 14-7 to cut the lead to 36-35 and then went on to take a 43-41 lead with 4:40 to go in the contest. Twice previously this season this has happened and the Mustangs were unable to recover, BUT tonight we found a way to win, with ball-control, a couple of key steals, and 8 of 10 free-throw shooting down the stretch. The Mustangs improve to 6-5 on the season and 1-3 in conference play. St. Henry falls to 5-6 on the year and 0-3 in the conference race.

BB: Hamberg 15, Donnelly 11, E.Eilerman 9, C.Schirmer 4, Schumacher 7, Duffy 2, and Bell 2.

Totals - 14-4-10/13-50

StH: Berling 18, Vieth 6, Schaefer 2, Croyle 3, Becker 1,

Westerbeck 9, Brockman 4

Totals 8-7- 6/12-43

The Mustangs travel to Villa Madonna on Saturday for the first time in modern history to play a tripleheader with the Blue Lightning. Freshmen go at 10:45am, JVs Play at 12Noon and Varsity tips at 1:30pm.

St. Henry heads to Dixie Heights next Wednesday.
