November 5, 20178 yr The possibility for severe weather has increased so I'm issuing Severe Weather Alert for later today. The Storm Prediction has expanded the areas for possible severe weather late this afternoon into the evening hours. Most of Indiana and part of western Ohio are now in an Enhanced Risk Area for strong to severe storms. The leading edge of the Enhanced Risk Area is so close to Kentucky so that is one reason I'm issuing this alert. The following map shows that it is from just north of Owensboro northeastward to just north of Cincinnati. Also, the Slight Risk Area has been expanded along with the Marginal Risk Area. Most of Kentucky is now covered by one of the aforementioned areas. Severe thunderstorms capable of large hail, damaging winds, and a few tornadoes will be possible late this afternoon into the evening hours. Conditions look to be favorable for the development of supercell storms. Especially in parts of central/southern Indiana and western Ohio. Large hail formation will be possible with some being greater than 2" in diameter. The potential for large hail is forecast to be greatest during the late afternoon and early evening hours when instability will be maximized. The tornado threat is forecast to be greatest during the early evening as supercells ahead of the front interacts with a strengthening low-level jet stream. As of now, it seems that most of the severe activity won't reach Kentucky until the evening hours. Maybe around the 7 pm EST time period. Everyone should be weather aware later this afternoon into the evening hours. I will try and update later this morning. Also, updates will come through our twitter page when possible. Here are some weather maps to show what might happen later today. Radar 7 pm to 7 am EST Atmospheric energy EHI 7 pm-4 am EST Supercell development 4 pm-1 am EST Significant Tornado 4 pm-4 am EST

November 5, 20178 yr Author Those in the Cincinnati/NKY area should be on the lookout for severe weather this evening. You are now in an Enhanced Risk area for strong to severe storms this evening. Cincinnati is presently under a Tornado Watch until 7 pm EST. Expect that watch to be replaced with another one before the first one expires. It also may be expanded to include more of Kentucky.
November 6, 20178 yr I'm in NKY thru mid-week. There were visible flashes of lightning to the northwest of us in Ft. Mitchell from about 2pm on, and even an occasional rumble of thunder here or there, but no rain until around 7pm. Things really turned up around 11pm with lightning, thunder and heavy rain. Had an emergency flood alert pop up on my phone around that time as well. Raining like crazy right now. Good bit of wind whipping around too.
