The Commish's Picks for the Week

There are a lot of good games this week. Most of them should have single digit margins. The team with the biggest win will surprise everyone.

Auxier RiverRats (3-1) at Huggs Thuggs (2-2)

The defending Champions Auxier RiverRats got back on the winning track last week by place 5 players in double figures for a total of 87 points and trounced the Florence Fighters 98-58. ~ The Huggs Thuggs must have believed the press clippings saying the Lexington Lumber’s GM and Coach had conceded the game to them. Everyone one the team played like the game was in the bag, except Santana Moss who went out and scored 31 points. If Moss had of gotten some help they might have won this game, instead of losing 71-82.

The RiverRats lead the series 2-1 and have won the last two meetings. The RiverRats are averaging a league high 86 points a game while the Thuggs average 74 points a game.

The RiverRats will not have any player out due to the Bye, but will probably be without Donte' Stallworth because of injury, while the Thuggs will be without Chris Henry due to the Bye and Team Suspension.

The difference in this game will be Bulger vs. McNair. I believe the Bulger will have the best game and the RiverRats will run their streak over the Thuggs to three in a row with a 2 point win.

Brush Creek Rusty Ankles (2-2) at Louisville Legends (1-3)

With LT returning from the Bye it looked at though the Brush Creek Rusty Ankles were set to give the Ga. St. Prison Mean Machine a beating. Couple that with the fact that Donovan McNabb racked up 38 points you would say Rusty Ankles victory, but McNabb was the only player to show up for Brush Creek as they lost 73-81. ~ The Louisville Legends got some production Drew Bledsoe, Lamont Jordan, and Steve Smith but almost on help from the rest of the team, as they fell to the Paintsville Pythons 66-71.

The Rusty Ankles lead the series 2-1 and won the last meeting in 2005. The Rusty Ankles are averaging 85 points a game while the Legends average 81 points a game.

The Rusty Ankles will be without TE Alge Crumpler while the Legends will be at full strength.

This should be a high scoring game with both teams scoring over 100 points. The QB’s are about even. The Legends receivers will light up the board, but Brush Creek has the superior running game and that will be the difference as the Crusty Ankles win a close one.

Kalamazoo Wings (2-2) at Shelby Cards (3-1)

The Kalamazoo Wings were led by Peyton Manning and Joseph Addai who combined for 35 points, but that was over half of the teams total score of 69. Although it was a low number, it was enough to defeat the Richmond nWo Outsiders by 12 points. ~ The Shelby Cards entered week four undefeated at 3-0 for the first time in team history. Although they preformed at a normal level they ran into a buzz saw called the West Kentucky Rams and lost 69-101.

The Cards lead the series 2-1 and have won the last two meetings. The Cards are averaging 71 points a game while the Wings average 70 points a game.

The Wings will be without WR Chad Johnson, PK Josh Brown, and the Seattle Defense, while the Cards will be without PK Shayne Graham.

The Wings will miss their star receiver and defense. The Cards running games should step up and have a big day. If they perform as they should the Card will win by 2 points.

Lexington Lumber (1-3) at Florence Fighters (2-2)

The Lexington Lumber entered week four on a league leading five game losing streak that had the GM and Coach ready to give up. Proof of this was the very public conceding of the game to the Huggs Thuggs. This would have been enough to demoralize most teams, but it turned out to be a motivator for the Lumber has they came out and won 82-71. ~ The Florence Fighters had put together back to back wins for the first time since weeks one and two of the 2005 season, but only got 6 points from their RB’s, TE, and Kicker in a 58-98 smashing to the Auxier RiverRats.

The series is tied at 1-1. The Fighters won the last meeting in 2005. The Lumber are averaging 76 points a game while the Fighters average 72 points a game.

The Lumber will be without WR Andre Johnson, while the Fighters will be at full strength.

The Lumber have the better passing and running game, but the Fighter have very good receivers. They could put up double the amount of points that the Lumber’s receivers will. I had the Fighters winning this game, until they turned in a lineup, now I give the edge to the Lumber by 4 points.

Paintsville Pythons (3-1) at Ga. St. Prison Mean Machine (2-2)

The Paintsville Pythons got 26 points from Larry Johnson and another 18 from their Kicker as they downed the Louisville Legends 71-66. ~ The Ga. St. Prison Mean Machine entered week four without Eli Manning and having lost two straight games. Now they had to face a Brush Creek Rusty Ankles team that was at full force with a Ladainian Tomlinson returning from Bye. On paper, the Machine was set to take a beating, but that’s why they play the games. Brush Creek ran into some great defensive performances, and the Mean Machine was able to put enough points on the board for a 81-73 win.

The Mean Machine lead the series 2-1, while the Pythons won the 2005 meeting. The Mean Machine are averaging 82 points a game while the Pythons average 80 points a game.

The Pythons will be without QB Matt Hasselbeck for the Bye, while the Mean Machine will be at full strength.

These teams are very evenly matched. The Pythons will be forced to start Vince Young at QB because of the Bye which the snakes downfall this week. The Machine have bought into the hype and placed TO in their stating lineup. To make room for TO the Machines Coach has sit down Larry Fitzgerald who had started every game this year. This is a mistake because TO will get shut down today. This game depends on how well Vince Young plays. If he comes out and has a fair to midlan game The Pythons will upend the Machine by 3 points.

Southern KY SubVets (2-2) at Sitka Stars (3-1)

The Southern KY SubVets entered week four riding high on their first win of the year and were happy of see Clinton Portis and Byron Leftwich combine for 44 points, but didn’t get more then 7 points from any other player. Even their Kicker was shutout and the SubVets stole a game they should have lost by slipping by the Grayson County Swamptrash 69-53. ~ The Sitka Stars were without star players Tiki Barber and Joey Galloway but stepped up to the challenge and defeated the Western Kentucky WarHogs 97-75.

The Stars won the only meeting of these two teams. The Stars are averaging 80 points a game while the SubVets average only 59 points a game.

The SubVets will be at full strength, while the Stars will be without QB Michael Vick and the Atlanta Defense for the Bye.

This game is a Redskins fans nightmare. The Stars are starting Washington QB Mark Brunell and Giants RB Tiki Barber has the Skins and the Giants meet today in New York.

The running games will be about even for both these teams. The Stars without Vick are not the same team. The SubVets get the edge at QB as Leftwich will put up 8 to 10 more points then Brunell, and that will be the difference in this game, as the SubVets win by 6 points.

West Kentucky Rams (3-1) at Grayson County Swamptrash (1-3)

The West Kentucky Rams faced the leagues only undefeated team in week four in the name of the Shelby Cards. What a pre-game pep talk it must have been as the Rams came out and had six players scored in double figures as the Rams ran through the Cards 101-69. ~ The Grayson County Swamptrash were playing without injured league MVP Shaun Alexander and it showed as they struggled in a 53-69 loss to the Southern KY SubVets.

The Swamptrash won the only meeting of these two teams. The Rams are averaging 79 points a game while the Swamptrash average 64 points a game.

The Rams will be without RB Rudi Johnson, while the Swamptrash will be without WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh, TE Jeb Putzier for the Bye, and RB Shaun Alexander because of injury and the Bye.

This is a no contest game because of the Swamptrash’s missing players. The Rams will win by 10 points.

Western Kentucky WarHogs (2-2) at Richmond nWo Outsiders (0-4)

The Western Kentucky WarHogs entered week four riding high from a big week three win over Divisional rival Western Kentucky WarHogs and faced a Sitka Stars team without star players Tiki Barber and Joey Galloway. It looked as though the WarHogs were poised for an easy win, but the Stars had other plans as the WarHogs lost 75-97. ~ The woos continue for the Richmond nWo Outsiders as their defense was the 3rd leading scorer in week four. Five players combined for twelve points and the team came up short in a 57-69 loss to the Kalamazoo Wings.

The series is tied at 1-1. The WarHogs won the last meeting in 2005. The WarHogs are averaging 79 points a game while the Outsiders average in league low 57 points a game.

The WarHogs will be without QB Carson Palmer, RB Warrick Dunn and WR Darrell Jackson for the Bye, while the Outsiders will be at full strength

This is another no contest game. The WarHogs are missing too many weapons this week to compete. The Outsides will start to get healthy today with a big win over the Hogs. The margin will be by more then 15 points.

Trust me, last week was all sandbagging because I knew I was going to beat GT. Just wanted to be able to rub it in a little;) I am far from giving up on this season although I don't see how "The Crusty Ankles" are going to lose this year.
