South Oldham 51 Boone County 0

Congratulations to S Oldham. They are a fine football team. They have good size all across the board, except the RB #21 who makes up for it with quickness and speed. The line is huge. S Oldham controlled the LOS on both sides of the ball. The Boone FB couldn't get through the line without a D-lineman around his legs and a LB or Safety hitting him high.

The problems began with Boone's opening offensive series when FB fumbled the ball on 2nd or 3rd down, giving the ball to S Oldham in good field position. The Dragons promptly scored. 7-0.

The next two offensive series by Boone also ended quickly with a fumble. The same back involved each time. There were definitely problems between the QB and the FB getting the ball. I couldn't tell for sure if it was the back or the QB although I think they each contributed. They have not had this problem before. The bottom line is that Boone fumbled the ball away on its first three offensive series. S. Oldham scored and Boone was in a hole it could not climb out of. Boone lost 4 fumbles altogether. The first one occurred when a S Oldham player came in and put his helmet on the ball. None of the rest were caused by the defense but were just mishandled by the RB or QB.

S oldham is a well-coached team, aggressive, physical, and BIG. I was duly impressed. The Ryle D did not stop Boone's run attack as well as S Oldham did.

Boone's QB, Zac Grau, had his best game of the year. He was able to run, QB keepers, that produced first downs and big gains. He hasn't done that all year. Towards the end of the first half, Boone started throwing the ball and picking up yardage. Grau was on target and throwing darts. But soon the passing game got predictable and S Oldham started to smother the quick hitter.

I wanted to mention something that impressed me. With the JV players in, Boone's offense was stopped on downs at its own 4 yard line. The score was 48-0. S Oldham had its QB take a knee three straight times when they could have easily scored a TD. On fourth down they brought in the kicker who made the FG for a 51-0 final. I thought that was a very classy move by the coach to keep from needlessly running up the score when he had the chance. I can see giving the kicker some practice for the FG.

All in all I was impressed with S Oldham. They are a very good football team and well-coached. Good luck to the Dragons the rest of the season.

I seen a very unemotional unmotivated Boone county team. Has it been like that for awhile? Are they a young team? They do look like they have some good playmakers.

@HSfootballfan18, The first 3 offensive series took the wind out of their sails for some time. The S Oldham defense didn't allow them to gather themselves at all. They kept the pressure on. Some of the Boone play-makers were not at their best. And the S oldham offense has too many ways to beat you.

Boone Co has been down for some time. They are a young team. Last year's team had 24 or 25 seniors. We played much better against them last season, but still lost.

I know Boone has been down for some time. And 3 fumbles your first 3 drives will kill you. South Oldham did look good their qb is a big kid.

Nice win for South Oldham on the road. Seems like Jamie Reed's crew has really started to put it together after the opening loss to CAL. Next week is the big rivalry game against Oldham County in Crestwood....this is also the district opener for both, and may well be the biggest game in the district this year. South, the defending champs, and resurgent Oldham County may well be the two best teams in the district (although there's a lot of season left to sort that out!).

With Fern Creek dropping three in a row and Owensboro losing to a Daviess County team that they should have beat, I wouldn't be surprised for the Dragons to work their way into the top 5 of the BGP rankings this week. :sssh:
