Disjointed night in the monsoon

Belfry rushes for nearly 600 yards but fumbles and poorly executes down the stretch to keep the score respoectable

Belfry

53 carries, 584 yards

Wellman nearly 200 yards rushing with 2 TD's, also had 10 solo tackles per WDHR's stats.

Belfry led 40-7 and was running at will...but had a couple drives where they couldn't stop tripping over themselves with penalties and also lost I think four or five fumbles.

Gritty effort from Bryan Station QB Jalen Burbage. Played his heart out til the end.

Love seeing the Pirates right the ship.

Same script as last week, but against a team not on the level of Huntington and so the outcome was never really in question. The Pirates built up a nice lead, ran the ball really well, and then faltered a bit down the stretch.

Belfry is going to be really good offensively, the OL is coming along as a unit and there is plenty of skill talent to go around. They have some areas where they can improve, but a lot of that will come with repetition.

The defense is still a work in progress, but it sounded like the secondary had a much better showing this week. They are working and digging, and you can see the improvements they are making. Their schedule is going to test them, and that is a good thing. They still have a ways to go, but that is the way it is supposed to be in week 2, right?

I want to give a shout out to Zack Gibbs and Josh Keathley. Josh played a great game against Huntington and Zack was a standout last night against Bryan Station. Both these fellas have paid their dues and are getting their time to shine as seniors, and it is great to see them making the most of it. Keep it up guys. You both are part of the reason this defense is going to be fun to watch as the season plays out.
