Are there any JV Football Games in Pike County in Week 1?

Featured Replies

Being I will be in Pikeville next weekend, I was wondering are there any JV games on Saturday afternnon? Please list games, location and kickoff time. Thanks.

I know Pikeville's middle school team played Lawrence County last week so they have already started. I have no idea about the jv team. I'd try calling the schools you're interested in.

Not to crush your dream, but from my experience most JV football in the rural areas is played on Monday nights. I can't recall many Saturday games.

Thanks.

Most of them here in my part of Ohio are played on Saturday mornings.

I think that's pretty common in Louisville and northern Kentucky as well.

Let's try this.

Are there any JV games Saturday after with 1 hour of Pike County?

Basically, the entire NEKY and EKY area plays their JV games on Monday and their Freshman games on Thursday. The only games I know of on Saturdays are JFL games.

...and, sadly...a lot of those (at least at the 1A-3A schools in particular) are "Frosh-More" games; if even anything at all.

I know of a couple dang solid 1A programs in the central part of the state who have had to cancel their "JV" games this season, and another 3A school who had to cancel their 1st one of the season on Monday (the day of) due to not enough numbers. It left the other school scrambling trying to find one; only to find others (about that size) who either were fortunate enough to have the date filled & even a couple others in that same relative school size who couldn't afford to play either due to numbers (injuries, kids who have come out late but haven't had enough practices, etc).
