A Twilight's Last Gleaming

 

Interesting article I saw in the SI vault from 1984. Pineville's football coach is on the verge of being fired and seemingly goes crazy. Long read and ends very sad. I had never read or even heard about this.

"Twigg County." Is that in Virginia? :lol2:

I remember Eddie when he was at Morehead. I was there at the same time. One of my fraternity brothers played with him at Pineville and I was around him a few times. Really great guy as I remember. I went to Pineville for football game in '73 and was there the night they gave the coach a car.

 

I remember thinking that he must have been a god to get a car.

I read the story in SI many years ago while still in college. It is a touching and sad story.
