US Navy Destroyer Collides with Japanese Merchant Ship

Lots of heroes on that ship. I read that the location of impact was a sleeping berth, at 1:30am. It was immediately taking on water. Sailors were diving and retrieving their comrades until all air pockets were filled. 18 and 19 year olds, doing all they can, and now feeling guilty that they could not save them all.

Never stop praying for our fine military personnel and their families.

My next door neighbor's daughter was stationed in Japan too...on a different ship.

I'm with the rest of you who can't believe this happened. You would think the Navy had learned a lesson after the terrorist attack on the USS Cole back in 2000. How do you let a ship get that close. Makes no sense.

Seven sailors lost to negligence. So very sad.
