What a day for softball! :ylsuper:

For only the 2nd time since 2009 the NKY JV Regional Tournament gets played completely through, 2013 was the last time the tourney was completed with SK winning, and the Simon Kenton Pioneers are again Champions. The field of teams was not as big as usual, but there was some great games played today.

Road to the Finals for NewCath and Simon Kenton went like this.......In Pool Play the Pioneers tied Campbell County 2-2 and "nipped" NewCath 2-1. They got a 1st Round Bye in bracket play before beating Campbell Co. in the Semi-Finals 4-0. The Breds road to the Finals was a 8-5 win over Campbell Co., 2-1 loss to Simon Kenton, then in Bracket Play, a 13-3 3 inning win over Dayton, and a 4-2 win over Cooper in the Semi-Finals.

I would like to thank Simon Kenton Head Coach Jeff Morgan for getting the ball rolling on the tourney and securing the fields and being tourney director :lol2:, Kenton Lakes for donating half the gate receipts to the NKSCA, Cooper Head Coach Tony Fields for getting the All-Tourney awards and championship team trophy, and Umpires Chad Riley, Gary Theim, Walt Preston, Greg Hall, & Brian "Sandman" Sandlin.

Awesome, awesome day for softball, perfect weather and a nice field, small but nice, not sure why more teams didn't play and once again a big thanks to the Lawnboy and Coach Morgan and congrats to Simon Kenton.

Agree, you could also include Cooper who's 7th grade pitcher pretty damn good. I was also impressed with the young squad from Dayton.

This is a great thing congrats to all. This is a hope of mine for our program. Too many times this year our JV team suffered because of rain and scheduling conflicts. These girls are our programs futures. I want to try and do something like this here in the Western part of the State. Good job coaches and players and all involved.

I echo the congrats to the Lady Pioneers and Lady 'Breds for their run. Kudos to the coaches that gave their JV'ers an opportunity to have their chance to shine.
