Here are the results for the 2017 Sweet 16 Contest for Premium Members. We had a great turnout - 72 entries - this time around! Perhaps it was the boss man's enticement of a crisp c-note to the winner that spurred interest.

The results will not be official until 24 hours after this post. If you believe that I made a mistake (highly possible), send me a PM and I will investigate your claim.

That being said, we had three members that scored an impressive 24 points in this year's contest. We had to go to the first tiebreaker (total points scored in the final game) to determine the winner. Congratulations to silo11 on the win!

Thanks for playing!

Thanks for doing it! Made a great week that much better!

After losing last year to a tiebreaker, it's nice to get it this year.

Thanks BGP and @mcpapa for the time you put into this.

Some fun facts.

The 72 entries was the most in the brief time that I have been doing any basketball contest. The following entries were their first posts on the site - Crimsonfan1 (who came within an eyelash of winning), kcats1580, winrwinrchikndinr and Caboose. Thanks for joining and playing!

Two contestants missed only one game. Our winner, silo11, only missed the late semifinal; had Fern Creek over Cooper. Panther1256 only missed the final game; had Cooper over Bowing Green. Impressive.

Two contestants correctly called 123 as the total number of points scored in the final game. BigVMan23 and Fishing is Life - congratulations. You get nothing, but congratulations.

32 contestants correctly picked Bowling Green as the winner. Another 18 (including, sadly, yours truly) picked Scott County. 50 of 72 contestants believed that the first quarterfinal matchup of the Purples and the Cardinals would determine the state champion.

The following contestants correctly chose all 8 first-round winners - silo11, colonel-fan, Mentschwhateverhisnameisdfhcbufeowbwbcbnozawinnvmkeooreyxnqhfn, UKMustangFan, afi100guy, Panther1256, Mack The Knife, Crimsonfan1, Blue Tiger, sweet16, Fat Nate, and gold sunrise.

The following contestants correctly chose Bowling Green and Cooper as the two state finalists - Cobra Starship, Panther1256, Crimsonfan1, IronLung, Indiana Patrick, BubbyKY, and 5thIndian.

The best username of any contestant - chosen by a one-person committee - is Mediocre Nachos. Other worthies were Mentschblahblahblobbedyblobbedyblah, Ironlung, SnottieDrippen, and winrwinrchikndinr. The most appropriate "contest-theme" username - chosen by the same committee - is sweet16.

The worst pick for state champion was made by polarbear98. That being said, I only scored one more point than him, so what do I know. Moral of the story - to have a chance to win, you'd better get the state champion correct.
