catfan09
Who was the favorite in the region? It appears Meade County had beat Owensboro Catholic earlier in the season too.
B-Ball-fan
Who was the favorite in the region? It appears Meade County had beat Owensboro Catholic earlier in the season too. Looks like the top 5 of Region 3 were: Hancock Co - 27-5 Apollo - 22-7 Owensboro Cath - 22-11 Daviess Co. 21-12 Edmonson Co. - 19-11 And you're right, back on Dec. 3 Meade Co. beat Owensboro Cath 72-
sweet16
Daviess was #4 seed in their district
dognation2
Baker was out most of the season. So Meades record is misleading. However I think the 3rd might be the weakest region champ in Rupp
ApolloFan98
Meade County was 9-1 before losing James Baker to a hand injury. One of those 9 wins was against Catholic. Baker did not return until the 1st round district game against Breck, where he dropped 28 in his first game back. He is the most athletic player in the region by far. This result still came as a surprise to me, as I have grown accustomed to wins from Tim Riley in tournament play. He was 8-0 as Catholic coach before tonight. The Aces had 5 wide open looks on multiple offensive rebounds to tie the game in the final seconds. The shots simply wouldn't go down. Daviess County has been steady all year long, but they have taken their game to a new level in the postseason. Knocking off Apollo in district seems to have given them a ton of confidence. If you just watch them warm up, you would never think they are as athletic as they are. They have a solid core of scoring guards, some serviceable players inside and are very well coached. Should be a great final!
