The Commish's Picks for the Week

Auxier RiverRats (2-0) at Brush Creek Rusty Ankles (1-1)

The Auxier RiverRats were led in week two by six team members that scored at least 11 points to win their 6th straight game in a 91-67 pounding of the Paintsville Pythons. The Brush Creek Rusty Ankles were led by Donovan McNabb with 28 points and Ladainian Tomlinson with 24 points in their 102-57 dismantling of the Lexington Lumber.

The Rusty Ankles lead this series 3-2.

The Rusty Ankles have LT on the bench this week, so this will be one of the few weeks that a team has the Running Game advantage over them, but McNabb and Marvin will give the Rusty the better chance to win this one. The RiverRats storybook ride comes to an end by 10.

Grayson County Swamptrash (0-2) at Richmond nWo Outsiders (0-2)

The Grayson County Swamptrash were in dominate team in 2005, winning 11 of 13 games. What a difference an off-season makes. The Swamptrash had 5 players combine for 16 points in a 56-97 loss to the Sitka Stars. The Richmond nWo Outsiders struggled to points on the board and still managed to stay within 3 points of the Shelby Cards in a 69-72 loss.

The Swamptrash lead this series 2-0

Anyone watching this Swamptrash team have ask, “Where have Shaun Alexander, Ronnie Brown and Daunte Culpepper been?” They should all return to form this week. They also get TJ back today. I hate to say it but, these four by themselves will beat the Outsiders today.

Florence Fighters (1-1) at Ga. St. Prison Mean Machine (1-1)

The Florence Fighters were led by Drew Brees with 23 points and Brian Westbrook with 17 in a close 88-84 win over the Louisville Legends. The Ga. St. Prison Mean Machine were riding high with 28 points from Eli Manning, but only got a total of 1 point form Terrell Owens and Vernon Davis in a heart breaking 69-71 loss to the Huggs Thuggs.

The Machine lead this series 4-0

Both teams should turn in about the same product from their QB. But the similarities stop there. The Machine have the better running and receiving games, even without Julius Jones and TO, and will win this one by 10.

Kalamazoo Wings (1-1) at Southern KY SubVets (0-2)

The Kalamazoo Wings were led by 48 points from Peyton Manning and Joseph Addai in downing the Western Kentucky WarHogs 96-88. The Southern KY SubVets saw their second straight week of almost no production from their RB’s as they only scored 5 points, for a total of 12 points this season as they fell to the West Kentucky Rams 60-73.

The SubVets lead this series 4-1

The SubVets made wholesale changes this week and will be starting four players that were picked up as Free Agents since the draft. Add that to Portis returning today and the Vets start five players that that were not on the week one lineup. Peyton Manning will put on a show for the Wings and win the QB battle today by probably more then 20 points more then the SubVets get from Plummer. Portis comes back for a big day and Cadillac gets the flats fixed to win the RB battle. The SubVets also have the better receivers and should win by a field goal.

Lexington Lumber (0-2) at Paintsville Pythons (1-1)

The Lexington Lumber only had two players in double digits for only 24 points in a 57-102 thrashing at the hands of the Brush Creek Rusty Ankles. The Paintsville Pythons entered last weeks game on a five game winning streak, but had the misfortune of meeting the 2005 champs Auxier RiverRats and lost 67-91.

The Lumber lead this series 4-1

The Lumber don’t have Randy Moss this week, while the Pythons have their leading scorer Larry Johnson on the bench. Both teams should turn in about the same product from their QB’s and receivers. The difference will be the running game and with LJ out the Lumber will run off and leave the Snakes to the tune of about 15 points.

Louisville Legends (0-2) at Huggs Thuggs (2-0)

The Louisville Legends had half the team combine for 75 points, but the other half of the only managed 9 points in a 84-88 loss to the Florence Fighters. The Huggs Thuggs put together 40 points by three players and 31 from the other 5, but that was good enough to hold off the Ga. St. Prison Mean Machine 71-69.

The series is tied 2-2

The Legends don’t have Bledsoe and Jordan this week, while the Thuggs are at full strength. Both teams should turn in about the same product from their QB’s and RB’s. The Legends 2005 team MVP Steve Smith returns today and will lift them over the Thuggs by a touchdown.

Shelby Cards (2-0) at Sitka Stars (2-0)

A battle for the early Central Division lead. The Shelby Cards are 2-0 for the first time in four seasons after winning a 3 point squeaker over the Richmond nWo Outsiders 72-69. The Sitka Stars got 80 points from 5 players in a 97-56 pounding of the Grayson County Swamptrash.

The series is tied 1-1

No major players are out this week. Both team are very evening matched with the difference being the QB’s, Vick outplays Favre and the Stars win by 8 points.

West Kentucky Rams (2-0) at Western Kentucky WarHogs (1-1)

The West Kentucky Rams went into week two without a QB and had to scramble for a third string QB and picked up Rex Grossman just to be able to field a full team in week two. It turned out to a stroke of genius as Rex throws up 30 points to lead them to a 73-60 victory over the Southern KY SubVets. The Western Kentucky WarHogs put up the 5th highest point total for week 2 but still fell to the Kalamazoo Wings 88-96

The Rams lead this series 5-1

No major players are out this week. Both teams QB’s will turn in performances that will be about even. The WarHogs have the better running game; the Rams have the better receivers. This is almost a pick’em game, but the WarHogs will win by 2.
