Lot closer than I thought it would be? Insight on game?

Was told Brossart was down 20-plus at one point and cut it to 9 or 10 with a couple minutes to play before Scott took the air out of it.

Mustangs, again tonight showed flashes of what this group will evolve into in the future. As in the NCC game a week ago, the Mustangs outplayed the Eagles in the first quarter, emerging with a 16-13 lead after eight minutes. We continued to battle the Eagles toe to toe for the next six and a half minutes in a back-and-forth battle that found the two teams knotted at 27s with a minute and a half to play in the half, when the Eagles went on a 10-1 run, taking the wind out of the Stangs sails, leading at the half 37-28 and continued the momentum until mid-fourth quarter when the Mustangs cut the Scott lead to 59-49 when the Eagles rebounded to blow the lead back out to the final margin of 67-52.

Jake Ohmer put on a show, scoring 19 first half tallies, and finishing the night with 32 points, that included five long-distance bombs. There was a period mid-third quarter when Bryan Duffy hit a momentum building three for the Mustangs. Immediately Ohmer answered from about 25 feet out. Brossart answered with a Bryce Kremer trifecta, which was immediately answered by an Ohmer three from the "horse head." A nice horse game interlude between the home team and Jake Ohmer that entertained the crowd but failed to allow the Mustangs to build any momentum with our back-to-back long range bombs.

Ohmer finished the night with 32 points, with Tim Jolly contributing 9 and Ohmer's little bro, Chad adding 8.

On the Brossart side of the ledger, Junior Zach Hamberg led the Stangs with 12 points, despite being blanked in the first half and only compiling three points through three periods. Sophomore Bryan Duffy contributed 11, Bryce Kremer 9 points on three from beyond the arc and 8 apiece from Bryce Donnelly and Aaron Bell.

The Scott Eagles knocked home 17 of 20 free-throws, while the Mustangs answered with 12 made from 16 attempts.

The Mustangs will head to the Mason County Fieldhouse for a Valentines Day encounter with the Royals, while Scott will travel to Ludlow for a match with the NKAC Division III Panthers.

If Jake Omher is not the 10th region player of the year, I will kiss Mustangs you know what on Main Street ! He has the ability to control any game at anytime. Good luck to Jake in the future, you are a fantastic player!
