January 15, 20179 yr Geno and his Huskies are staring straight at 100 wins in a row, they are currently sitting at 91 straight wins. Their last loss was to Stanford at Stanford in Overtime in November of 2014. 91 games in a row sets a new NCAA mark breaking, you guessed it UConn Women's old record of 90 games in a row. Win 100 would come against #5 South Carolina on Mon Feb 13, a game already slated for ESPN2 at 9:00 p.m. So here is the question, with 11 National Titles (including the last 4 in a row) and .877 winning percentage is what Geno is doing at UConn the best coaching performance in history of sports?
January 15, 20179 yr This falls into the "interesting but not overly excited" category for me. As to your question, I'd say no. Too little competition in women's basketball. Not enough talent to spread around to make the tourney what the men's is. It seems like 4 or 5 teams comprise the F4 every season for women's. It's nowhere near as impressive as Alabama's recent success.
January 15, 20179 yr I don't care much for Geno but what he has done at UCONN is simply incredible. He deserves the accolades. Wooden and UCLA; Geno and UCONN. True dynasties!!!!

Take UConn and Notre Dame out and there would have in all likelihood have been 8 different Champions in the last 8 years. Women's basketball is more competitive now than ever, but UConn skews the entire sport because of their dominance.

It pales in comparison to men's thus my belief that the accomplishment is not as great as it sounds relative to other sports.
January 16, 20179 yr I agree it is not as great as an accomplishment as it would be in the men's game (not even close) but I really respect Geno because when he started at UCONN, nobody had ever heard of UCONN (Summitt and UT was king of the hill) and he developed the program into the most dominant program in any sport that I can think of. He is even surprised with this year's success. This was supposed to be a "down" year for UCONN (only ranked 3rd in the preseason is down for UCONN)...:lol2:
