College Football Playoff

Featured Replies

There have now been 8 games played in the CFP era and 6 of the games have been terrible.

There have been scores of 59-20, 42-20, 37-17, 38-0, and 31-0, and 24-7 (which wasn't even that close). The only good games have been Ohio State over Alabama 42-35 and Alabama over Clemson 45-40.

What a major letdown this had been, especially the #2 vs #3 games.

Just goes to show even though many want an 8 or 16 team playoff as I do, there is just a huge drop off after the top 1 or 2 teams.

When you take 4 weeks off what do you expect.

Exactly. They take to much time off. I want 8 teams.

Didn't both teams take that time off, why do some teams deal with it better than others?

Exactly what I was thinking. Both teams had long layoffs.

And how ugly were both games, and all the bowl games for that matter to this point. There is a reason. I get a week off for the players to take finals, one week is no biggie, in fact take away the second bye week all teams get and you can have the week at finals. No reason they cant play after that.

Alabama and Clemson seemed to adapt well. There were several good bowl games.

Biggest issue with long layoffs is really good teams and coaches have more time to figure out how to exploit the weaknesses of the other team. That has MUCH more to do with it than teams being rusty or cold from being off too long. How many times has the Superbowl been a blow out, give a great team an extra week to prepare and they will put a hurting on someone.

I like the 4 teams, if there's more teams then they need less regular season games. No matter who's in the playoff there will almost almost always be a huge drop off between the top 2 teams or top team, That's just how it is.
