Great idea. Unfortunately California has the largest economy of any state in the USA. They produce most of our fruits and vegetables, wine, and cotton. Not to mention they are the technology center of the world. If California was a country, they'd have the 6th largest GDP in the world, right ahead of France and India. telling California to go away would be a text book example of cutting our nose off to spite our face..

 

In this case start cutting. See how long their economy survives with 30% or so on the public dole once the infux of those seeking sanctuary explodes.

Again, it's a moot point, because California isn't going to leave. I was simply pointing out that it's an incorrect assumption that California is a welfare state that is a drain on the US economy. You simply cannot deny it's importance to our economy, and the numbers you see in my links back that assertion up.

I dont think they are leaving either. But my point is that "if" they vote to defy federal law with Trump they are gonna have some issues. This is not Obama and they will find this out the hard way is my point. The voters who elected Trump want this crap stopped with states and cities doing things that are unlawful by the current laws. As a matter of fact its disgraceful that the current and previous administrations allowed this. Either change the law or enforce whats on the books. If we do something thats unlawful what happens? This is not hard. Just because you might not agree with something that dont mean you just choose to ignore the law does it? This is really quite simple. Alot of this crap is whats wrong today and one of the main reasons I chose in the end to support Trump as did alot of people.

You are correct that they are not a welfare state, yet. Seen it in florida. Immigrant workers work in the fields for cash, ( untraceable ) sign up for as many benefits as they can since they show no or little income. If california decides to become a sanctuary state you will see an influx of this behavior. It will be a heavy burden on their economy. So much that I doubt it will have the effect they expect. With no available federal money to offset that enormous increase they will reap the seeds of not having the forsight of their actions.

Do we know for sure that Trump will do what he said he was going do once he gets the keys?? He's already backtracked on some things. I'm kind of looking forward to January just see exactly what he will and won't do. I suspect when push comes to shove, many of his threats will never materialize, and I'm curious as to how his supporters will react.
