Owensboro 15 John Hardin 6

Featured Replies

Owensboro was celebrating its 1,000th game tonight as they opened up a new era at Rash Stadium with the addition of field turf. They had an honorary captian on hand who was a member of the 1933 Red Devil team which played the first game under the lights at Rash Stadium.

Owensboro's defense continues to impress, John Hardin only put together one good drive all night. IMO John Hardin is a good team, had good size, and good speed, and I give the Red Devil D credit for containing their athletes.

Nick Hall again played well for the Red Devils. He blocked a punt on John Hardins first possession to give the Devils excellent field position, but they failed to get into the endzone and missed a field goal attempt. Nick Hall had a decent night running the ball but never really broke loose as John Hardins speedy defenders were usually there to meet him as he got to the outside. This was a game of field position with a lot of punts for both teams.

By the end of the 1st quarter or maybe very early in the 2nd it was 8-6 OHS. It remaider that way until near the end of the 3rd Nick Hall scored on about an 85 yd. punt return. John Hardin has some speed but once Hall got loose it was like he had an extra gear.

John Hardin will again travel to Owensboro next week to take on the Apollo Eagles who should be 4-0.

Owensboro will travel to Ohio Co. for a game in which they may struggle if they start looking ahead to hosting Male in two weeks.

A few eyebrows raised here, I'm sure, combined with JH's last outing.

Congrats to the Red Devils. They are winning over more fans each week.

They really need to find some more offense against Ohio County next week. 15 points won't beat Male.

Owensboro looks to have a very solid team this year. Congratulations on the win over JH (better than we did the last time we played them!). They're a tough team with a very good coach.

Congrats to the Red Devils on the win over John Hardin. OHS has a very physical team. Both teams had stingy defenses tonight. Offensively John Hardin was able to move the ball, but only to self destruct once they ran out of real estate. OHS didn't really do much offensively until late in the 4th. Tonight, John Hardin's special teams weren't so special. That was the killer for JH. Good luck to the "boro".

I want to say what a great night it was for OHS's 1000th game! The crowd was great, and it was awesome to see some old timers, and some of my teamates from the mid to late 90's! It was also very special to be out on the field at halftime for the picture that they took.

As for the game, it was very much a defensive battle. John Hardin very much impressed me with their overall team speed. And, if I read the program right, JH has a sophomore dominated team. Look out for the Bulldogs in the future! OHS could never seem to stretch the field against JH. OHS did however have sucess passing the ball because JH had 8 in the box most of the night.

OHS blocked that punt early in the first quarter and I thought that was a sign of a long night for JH but it was not to be. JH's defense stiffened and held OHS at the 1. OHS elected to kick and missed it. I think you gotta go for it in that situation because you miss and the ball goes out to the 20. Thats a free 19 yards! OHS did get on the board when Austin Moss hooked up with William Duncan for a td pass and the two point conversion was good by Moss for a 8-0 lead. JH put together a very impressive drive late in the first half. The Bulldogs had OHS's defense on their heels with the misdirection plays and got into the endzone. OHS stuffed the two point conversion to make it 8-6 at the half.

The game still stayed a defensive battle until OHS senior RB Nick Hall fielded a punt and got a couple block on his way to an 80 yard td return for the backbreaker.

I think OHS was very conservitive in their playcalling due to it being the 1000th game and kinda playing not to lose. But the Red Devils did play hard and with tons of heart. I hope OHS goes to Ohio County and executes sharply while getting ready for the showdown with #1 Louisville Male in two weeks! It will also be interesting to see how JH stacks up against OHS's crosstown rival Apollo this Friday. The Eagles have started the season at 4-0.
