Serious thought on our Senate Majority leader

Senator McConnell is an extremely savvy politician. Anyone who attempts to deny that has their head in the sand.

This was my main point of the entire thread. You don't have to like his actual stances to appreciate his political skills.

Yet he is savvy enough to get re-elected in landslide fashion every six years.

Say what you want (and I have, often), he is the consummate politician - the operational definition of "Washington insider". A shining example of what the Trump campaign campaigned against.

Have the Dems ever run a legitimate candidate against him? They had a prime opportunity to unseat him two years ago but seemed to have tunnel vision about running a woman against him but the three women that they targeted (Ashley Judd, Heather French-Henry and ALG) were all terrible options. It almost seems like by the time the Dems realized he was vulnerable they couldn't find a good candidate to run against him.

Draining the swamp is getting clearer...

Remove Democrats from Washington.

Now that you mention it...

Who do you think would have been a better woman to have run against Mitch? Why was Grimes a terrible option? What do you think of Luallen?

Grimes couldn't form a coherent thought, was TERRIBLE in interviews and most times she spoke. Her biggest qualification was her father and his connection to the Clintons. Luallen would have been a better candidate but I really believe that the powers that be thought they could win with eye candy so she wasn't an option.

Steve Beshar who lost to McConnell years before was the only option . The only future option I see for his seat when he retires is his son? With the GOP taking over almost every elected office in the state leaves very few options for the party.
