MVPNash Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 Just read on a well known message board that Emily has committed to MTS. Anyone from that area know for sure? I met her and Laura Terry over the summer and they are both such nice young Lady's. I'm sure Emily is glad to get it over with so she can focus on her senior year. Congrat's and good luck!!
hoopsrbest Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 MTSU has great facilities and a very steep tradition in womens basketball. I hope she has good luck with Insell the head coach.
Himmelfarb Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 Emily made the decision this past weekend during an official visit to MTSU to become a Lady Blue Raider.
hoopsrbest Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 Does anyone know what her top three schools were and why MTSU over the others?
ScottCountyFan Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 Congratulations to Emily from Georgetown.!!!! Himmelfarb congratulations to you and your wife as well. My wife Amy, Rebecca, and myself all wish her well. Now she will get to be teammates with one of the best point guards to come out of this state, Chelsia Lymon.
Himmelfarb Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 Does anyone know what her top three schools were and why MTSU over the others? Emily had a considerable number of offers, but narrowed the list to MTSU, Western KY, Eastern KY, Davidson and Cincinnati...each of which had strong appeal and for differing reasons. As for MTSU...Head Coach Rick Insell, a uniquely talented staff, a wonderful community of MTSU personnel (VP of student affairs, AD, etc.) high-tech support system for the academic life of a student-athlete, the Lady Blue Raiders' players, and an opportunity to compete against Tennessee, Maryland, Duke, Georgia and Alabama in the non-conference portion of the MTSU schedule.
Rickyp Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 Middle Tenn. has landed a dandy. Congratulations Emily.
Uncle Jed Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 Congratulations Emily. MTSU has just become one of my favorite teams along with Louisville, Asbury, and whatever school Laura decides on.
Frances Bavier Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 Congratulations to Emily, and I hope she tears it up in college. More importantly, I hope she continues her academic success, and makes Gertrude proud. On a side note, I want to thank Himmelfarb for sending me a DVD of Emily in action, knocking down threes, boxing out, running the floor, handling the pill, and playing some serious "D". Enviously, Frances PS - If Emily should need it, I believe I still have my old basketball skirt in the armoir, from back in the day. Of course, it might have to be taken in a bit at the waist ....
Incognito Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 Congratulations Emily! The community is very proud of you!

I think we could have done without that visual, Frances. Congrats, Emily. I am sure that you will be successful.
Bailey Howell Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 Emily is a tremendous competitor who has experienced the very rough times and the very, very joyous times at Rose Hill. Good luck at MTSU.
LRCW Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 I want to congratulate Emily on her scholarship and wish her all the success in the world as she goes away to college next year. There is no one that has worked harder than Emily has in developing her skills. She is a tremendous talent, and MTSU is getting not only a great basketball player, but an even better person. I know every daddy would pray that their little girl would become the fine Christian young lady that Emily is.:thumb:

I can remember lacing up the old basketball cleats, stepping into that skirt, and trotting out for warmups. Working my way through the layup line to the tune of "Sweet Georgia Brown", then getting my coils loose for the opening tip ... Oh yeah - the matchup of Frances, from back in my salad days, versus Emily Queen at her peak... instant classic. Get the camera's rolling and sell tickets to that one. Frances
