Watched this one online. Heartbreaking way to end the season for Raceland, but they did a heck of a job coming back. Excellent season by them, great careers by their seniors.

 

Good luck to Paintsville going forward. Hope they bring home the big trophy.

This game embodied what high school football is all about. Great game between 2 great teams.

Truly was a great game! 1st qt was a shut out on both sides of the scoreboard! Didn't know when either team was gonna start scoring!

Was a Heck of a game! Paintsville controlled the tempo through the first half but I felt they got a little complacent and The Rams capatlized and about made em pay for it! This rematch did not disappoint!! Great game Raceland! Their boys gave it everything!! That's how you want to walk away from your last game even though the end result wasn't what you hoped for. I don't think any Rams player should have any "maybe I coulda" thoughts! HARD FOUGHT GAME!! This has turned into a good district Rivalry!

 

Good post and as for "turning into" a good rivalry, it took a lull for a few years when we weren't in the same district due to realignment. I have been on the Ramblers / Rams side of this series since the early, mid 1970's and it's always been a tough game and rivalry. I remember the coaching battles between Walter Brugh and Raceland coaches Larry Heck, R. Snyder and Bill Tom Ross ! Those were always tough, very hard hitting games. Paintsville I believe is one of the very few of our long time series opponents that hold an edge over Raceland in the series (Ashland, Russell) being two others.

Thanks r57, this was one season that I honestly believed that Raceland would be in BG on Championship day. There has only been 2 other years that I actually believed that ....2013 (I think), when we lost to Williamsburg @home in the 1A State semi final, another when we lost @ home to LCA in the region final after having a 2 td lead after 3 qtr.'s (can't remember the year, around 9-10yrs ago).

LCA won the 1A Title that season I believe.

LCA got beat by Hazard that year. 2009 is when LCA won their title.
