Cubs being so good are pushing the Cards out of their comfort zone of being cheap. This signing still isn't gonna be enough. They'll be in the wildcard hunt though.

You're right on all accounts. MO is cheap and I am surprised he spent that on Fowler. Wild Card is the only hope right now. But you never know what might happen during the year. Hangover or injuries.

I expect us to start slow. I hope I'm wrong. Heyward bought a house in Arizona so he could spend the offseason with the hitting coach, so that's good. I was very surprised to see Fowler get that much, especially from the Cards. I figured he'd be get 4/60 from someone.

Heyward is an enigma. He looks like a stud but can't hit for $hit

If the Cards don't do something about the pitching the wildcard is a pipe dream.

agree, Lynn is back and Reyes could be special but he is young.

They have:

Martinez

Wainwright

Lynn

Wacha

Leake

Weaver or Reyes

I saw some clown comment on an article that with this signing they're just as good as the Cubs cause STL already has a top 5 rotation and that Waino will be a top 5 ace this year :lol2:

It's better than 2/3 of the leagues rotations.

They just have too many unknowns. IF Waino somehow comes back to prime form, and Reyes turns out to be as good as we think he can be, and if Martinez can put a full year together then yeah they could give the Cubs a run for the division. That's a whole lot of ifs

I saw a lot of good from Reyes this year. He pitched in some big games down the stretch and had great results, just the rest of the team didn't. His composure is what has me most excited. We all know his stuff is just filthy.

Encarnacion has agreed to a 3 year $60M deal with the Indians....
