So if you feared your team was going to go through undue harassment or an unsafe moment you'd still send them through the handshake line?

I was told Coach Wright was the initiator of the post game non-handshake.

 

I was told after he and his coaches scolded the Boyle County coaches for their 2015 celebration and 12th Region t shirts saying that "they weren't going to be classless like Boyle County and we're going to be respectful."

 

I was told he said, "You aren't pulling out those shirts this year are you?"

 

I was was told he said, "weren't good enough this time, huh."

 

I was told he said, "I've been doing this for 10 years and that's #16 for us."

 

I was told he was screaming and yelling at the coaches and the team as soon as the game ended and after making these comments he said, "I guess we're not shaking hands this year either." To which Coach Deem replied, "whatever, man. I guess not."

 

Now, I don't know how accurate these statements are but this is the Boyle side of the situation. I can't say I blame Coach Deem one bit. I wouldn't have sent my team over there either.

Yep. Sounds to me like hard feelings from last year carried over into this year's huge victory.

I know for a fact multiple girls from the Boyle soccer team were very taken aback by his behavior and how he was talking to the players on the team.

I'll also add that I know firsthand how coaches and fans feel emotionally when they beat Boyle County in any sport during the regular season and especially in the postseason. Everyone hates Boyle County and we love that at Boyle County. People tend to not act like themselves when they end Boyle County's season. More so locally than throughout the state but I understand why Coach Wright was worked up. Especially if he was in his feelings about the t shirts and celebration from last year. It had to have been hard for him and he got sweet revenge this year. He may be a stand up guy and a class act. All I know is how he made Boyle County players, fans and obviously coaches feel after West Jessamine's tremendous victory and right or wrong Coach Deem didn't send the girls over to shake hands. I don't blame him at all. I wouldn't have either.

Same here. And despite my disdain for post game handshakes past the middle school level I do instill in my kids to have sportsmanship regardless of the situation. Win with class. Lose with class. If you rub it in when you win then be prepared for the fallout.
