Colonels_Wear_Blue Posted October 14, 2016 Posted October 14, 2016 Campbell County's first district title since 1998, and second district title in program history.
Mustang Posted October 14, 2016 Posted October 14, 2016 Colton Schneider, one of 17 seniors on the Camels roster, scored his 28th, 29th, and 30th goals of the season leading his team past Brossart in the 37th District Boys Soccer Championship game Thursday evening at Scott High School in Taylor Mill. Schneider's first goal came 11 minutes into the contest on a breakaway. Brossart answered on a Cody Chism to Tanner Griffin cross, that found the back of the net with 13 minutes remaining in the half. The two teams were tied at 1-1 at intermission. Nearly 26 minutes elapsed in the second half before Schneider again scored unassisted, giving the Camels what appeared to be the game-winner. Not to be however, as a Camels foul in the box awarded Brossart's Cody Chism a PK, that he drove past the Campbell County keeper to knot the score at twos with only 3:57 left to play in regulation. With 2:55 left in the contest, Schneider worked his magic once again, dribbling the ball through multiple defenders to unleash an attack on goal that hit paydirt and this time proved to be the game-winner. Schneider is good - very good, and carried his team on his shoulders to victory, keeping the Camels undefeated against 10th Region competition with a 9-0 mark against regional competition and a 13-6 record overall. Both teams advance to the regional tournament to be held at Montgomery County High School next week (I think), and it is not unfathomable that these two teams could square off in the regional finals. Named to the all-tournament team from Brossart were Cody Chism, Sam Hildreth, who also stopped other offensive onslaughts from Schneider and the Camels, and Sophomore defender Joel Clines. Schneider was named the tournament MVP. These are off of the top of my head, so I do not have the other Camel recipients. Best of luck to both teams moving forward.
Sir! Posted October 14, 2016 Posted October 14, 2016 Nice job Camels and congrats to Colton Schneider in particular. What a great season that young man has had!
Oldbird Posted October 14, 2016 Posted October 14, 2016 The old district with Brossart, Campbell, Highlands, and NCC was brutal to get out of, which probably is part of the reason Campbell hasn't won more district titles.
