and thus the reason for my original question of dates/times. KY seems to rather confusing. It be much easier, although could cause unbalanced matchups in regions depending on upsets at districts to seed an entire region prior to districts and set the game time/locations and match ups through regional finals. Higher seed is home field. If home field is not available then they have an option to find an alternative or defer to visiting team. If they want to keep reagional semis and finals at same location so be it but a teams schedule (date/location and possibly time) and possible match up should be set at the onset of districts. They then post publicly once seeding is done prior to districts. Again, I'm an OH resident and accustomed to the manner in which they administer theirs. I just find it odd why they make it more complex than it needs to be but ignorant of the soccer issues KHSAA deals with and happy to be enlightened from those here who can do so.

Anyone know if this is in fact how it works in OH? If so, is that better than the blind draw we use to pair District winners with District runners up?

CovCath has had temporary lights in use all season so hosting would not be an issue.

I don't know if they allow the temp lights in post season.

Not exactly. Seeding is based on an online voting on a specific date set by the state. Voiting is performed by the AD of each school. The Seeding is automatic based on the voting. That said, the last coach's poll is usually a close proximity to the final seeding. However; seeding is for every school in a sectional which is beyond the coaches poll. Ohio having more schools of course is broken down another level.

I do know that OH is in fact seeded, as to how they go about doing it... I'm not sure. Their structure is not identical to the District, Region, etc... that KY has so it is not apples to apples.

I am a fan of the blind draw that KY uses for Regional pairings, if this was not used, several of the District Finals matches would not have as much importance other than bragging rights for winning the District.

Yes, I'm familiar with the rotation but my comment was more about how the #1 seeds were hosting the first round game vs. last year when all games were played at the regional site vs. anyone else hosting.

And I believe as of next year, CCH will be able to host. Lights going in this winter as soon as the football season is over with.

I like the fact the District winners host the first round of regionals for a couple of reasons. First if ALL 4 first round games are held at one site, I assume this would need to be done over two days, or the first game of 4 would need to start around 3:30PM, Either way it would be a huge mistake IMO. If they were played over two days, like the World Cup this causes huge problems, giving two teams an extra day of rest before the semi finals.

Second it rewards the District winners (at least the few schools that have a field capable of hosting) by giving them one more home game. Assume they get to keep the gate and concession proceeds? And puts more importance on the District final game. Certainly the current winner plays losers format is incentive enough to win your district put also earning to host the first round of regionals is a nice bonus.

One disadvantage of playing all first round regional games at four different sites, the attendance is spread out, lower spectators at each game. Maybe a better idea would be to hold the first round games at two different sites, two games at each site on Tuesday. But which two schools would host these games?

Rarely an easy solution to a complicated problem.

Personally I would love to see all semi finals and finals held on a neutral site every year, @ NKU!

That's right. CCH played Highlands at Dixie due to the lights issue. I had assumed all first round games were played at Dixie last year.
