The article does little to address that, but does discuss that a huge chunk of the rise was concentrated in a few cities, which would seem to back up the theory that such a dramatic increase would have to be related to a sudden, common cause. New players in the drug trade can do that.

For Baltimore to go from 211 homicides in 2014 to 344 in 2015 requires that something terrible was added to the mix in the worst parts of the city. Drug trade feuds would definitely add to the body count in a hurry.

Homicides are up in Louisville and I know LMPD is definitely putting a lot of that on increased problems in drug trafficking as state and local police have hit meth manufacturing and the synthetic opioid painkillers hard. It's allowed a window for heroin trafficking to return.

How can murders and violent crime be up, as stated by FBI Director Comey and Attorney General Lynch, as noted from such a paragon of virtues, The Washington Post ? Those noted increases were shot down as incorrect last night by THE NBC News Anchorman. If FBI Director Comey said it, then it must be true and we have to believe it, don't we?
