Good defensive effort by the Blackcats. Just couldn't get anything going on O, and when they did they would either fumble or have a penalty. But regardless Prestonsburg is much improved and will suprise some people.

That was a heck of a defensive game played by Leslie Co!!!! That was a great game in general, but when the Eagles came out of the dressing room from halftime, they really got after P-Burg. P- Burg has a middle linebacker that is a manchild. He's a monster!!! Timmmy Baker for Leslie is as good as they come at middle linebacker. Way to go Eagles!!!!!!!

Alot of mistakes on both sides of the ball by both squads. You can deffinately tell this was Pburgs first game of the season. I think you will tell a hugh difference next week. Leslie Co really opened up their offense when they moved #3 from QB to RB. Anyone know how many yards he had?

not for sure on the stats just yet, but i do know that this was a real ball game from start to finish. Thought that Pburg looked good for the first game. They came out hard and enthuised. this team seemed very well coached and also had very good personel in the players.

 

As for Leslie, another dog fight once again. This is a lot different than last years team, but a win is a win no matter the score. Thought that Leslie's D was there all night and after getting used to the blackcats "O" it just seemed to get easier and eaiser for them to make plays. Leslie's "O" however can still improve and with the move of #3 from QB to RB it may open up some more ideas. Dont know if the move was for good or not and really can't say just yet that the move will be benifical down the road. I will keep up with #3 and see just what happens, this kid is a heck of a player with loads and loads of talent. Good game to both sides and keep up the smash mouth Blackcats

Howard is the real deal for the Eagles. If Jimmy Jo Morgan can come in and play QB for the Eagles it will help them out tremendously with Howard in the backfield & maybe Morgan can toss a few towards Brian Hubbards way, I'm sure he can get a few yards. Add Jordan Morgan in the backfield with Howard & Timmy Baker clearing the way through for them & the Eagles will be dangerous again this season.

Howard only carried the ball 11 times, not twenty as i had said before.

Congratulation to the Eagles. #3 and #5 are difference makers. I definitely think they can give Middlesboro a run for the district. I wouldn't have said that before this game as I thought Middlesboro was the region favorite along with Belfry.

 

The Cats looked solid on defense and played hard the entire game but seemed a bit slow in the second half. Nothing makes up for game condition but playing. That will come. The offense was close a couple of times in the first half. The block in the back in the 1st hurt but that was the only bad penalty I can remember. A solid effort and they look much improved.

Actually, this is the best opening game effort I've seen from Prestonsburg since 2001. The Blackcats have lost opening games every year since.

 

After last year's poor showing by the Blackcats, the improvement on defense is VERY satisfying. MUCH better team speed...

 

I think the offense will gradually improve with experience. With Prestonsburg's wide-open style, it takes time for the skill players to work out the kinks.

 

Next weeks game vs. Pikeville ought to be very entertaining !!!
