It appears Bourbon Co's best threat is #2 in a direct attack. Bourbon Co put the most pressure on Boone when they kicked the long ball and #2 went to get it. The defender on her side of the field, Stephanie Schwartz, had her hands full but managed to play quite well and repel several attacks.

 

Boone Co worked the ball up the field with passes and then put pressure on the goal. It seemed to me, admittedly a Boone Co fan, that the Rebels controlled the game but there were times when Bourbon Co's direct attack put pressure on the goal. Payton Black, Morgan Black, #19, and Lilly Robinson combined for a really solid core to the Boone team. Paisley Carman came in strong in the second half with good ball control and some very well-placed balls, both in passes and corner kicks. #19 for Boone really is a dominant presence in the middle of the field.

 

If memory serves me, Bourbon Co scored first and went into the half leading 2-1. Boone controlled the field of play in the beginning of the second half and went on top 3-2.

 

With the score tied 3-3, Boone County got a free kick(?). I may not have the correct terminology. Let me describe it and someone can help me understand what happened.

 

Bourbon Co committed a foul (I don't know what). Payton Black for Boone set up for a free kick inside the half field point out towards the right edge. Players from both sides lined up along a line (perhaps at the outer edge of the box). Black kicked the ball and it lifted over everyone and landed just in front of the Bourbon Co goal to the left side. #19 for Boone ran to the ball and scored the goal. 4-3 Boone.

 

But wait... The CR waved off the goal and indicated there was some kind of infraction. Was it offsides? But someone said there is no offside on a kick. Did #19 leave too early? I don't know.

 

Can someone inform me of what may have happened here. This was a crucial call as the match ended with a tie score. It seemed like Boone had the upper hand most of the game and scored 4 goals, just to have it taken away from them and end in a tie.

 

I am taking nothing from the Bourbon Co team. They were a worthy opponent and easily could have won the match and played superbly. They are to be commended and I wish them well in the rest of their season.

AR had offsides on that direct kick. Defenders hold a line usually the 18 and attackers cannot pass that line until the ball is kicked. It was a really nice finish but it appeared she was in a little early. Noticed the Thomas More coach in attendance and there was some real quality players in the game.

Great post! To me, this is what BGP should be about. Talking about the events of an actual game. This was a great summary for someone who didn't attend.

There is offside on a free kick. The exceptions are goal kick, corner kicks, kick off. Also, no offside on throw ins.
