September 1, 201610 yr My Florida mower is my old 1982 model Toro. It still runs like a top. I have rebuilt the carb twice. It has a cast aluminum deck unlike these stamped steel decks now a days. I have also had 2 Craftsman mower during that time. The first one lasted 16 years. The current one is 8 years old. Like Lawnboy said, running the gas out at the end of the season is important.

September 1, 201610 yr Sta-Bil? I use that every year and have never had issues. To be honest, can't remember what brand of Fuel-Stabilizer it was. Unused gas left in a mower over the winter can get stale, gumming up the carburetor and inviting rust. First, add fuel stabilizer to the tank, then run the mower to distribute it through the system. Turn the mower off and allow the engine to cool, then siphon excess gas into a clean can. (You can put this gas in your car, provided it hasn't been mixed with oil.) Restart the mower and run it until it stops; repeat until the engine no longer starts and the fuel lines are empty.
