Invest 99L UPGRADED

Where did the name Invest 99L come from?

Invest 99L means the following. Invest a designated area of disturbed weather that is being monitored for tropical cyclone development. The numbers the National Hurricane Center uses is from 90-99 they just repeat once they reach 99. This is so they can track multiple areas. The L means the area is in the Atlantic Ocean. If they use E that means it is in the Pacific Ocean.

Noticed it was just south of the Keys, this morning. However, I can't see the path projections you can, nWo. Chances for formation had increased. Saturday may be a wet opening for college football, here. :depressed:

I'm in the process of posting an update. Invest 99L has been upgraded.

Invest 99L had been upgraded to Tropical Depression Nine. At the 5 pm update it was located in the straights of Florida and is headed towards the Gulf of Mexico.

Also Hurricane Gaston behind Tropical Depression 8 but its not believe it will head towards the continental U.S.

Also for future information. This is just the start. There is a tropical wave that is moving off the coast of Africa that needs to be watched.

My employer has its monthly backup power test scheduled for Thursday. Looking at the projected path of this thing, it should be off the coast of the TBA about the time of the test. Ain't that handy.

Just finished reading the forecast discussion for Tropical Depression Nine. This system has moved more westerly than predicted. This could mean more strengthening the previous thought. A Tropical Storm or Hurricane Watch maybe issued for parts of the Florida Coast later today.

As of 11 AM, the projections look to be moving more northward as well. The worse storm surge projections are around Homassa, north of the Bay Area. I worry more about storm surge and wind than I do rain.

  • Author

I will be starting a new thread since a Hurricane Watch has been issued for parts of Fla Gulf Coast.
