Asparagus, frozen - 10% of spears are infested with 6 or more attached asparagus beetles eggs/sacs. Broccoli, frozen - 60 aphids and/or thrips per 100 grams, Corn meal - 1 or more insects per 50 grams; 25 or more insect fragments per 25 grams; 1 or more rodent hairs per 25 grams; 1 or more rodent excreta fragments per 50 grams. Macaroni and noodles - 225 insect fragments per 225 grams; 4.5 rodent hairs per 225 grams. Mushrooms, canned - 20 maggots per 100 grams; 75 mites per 100 grams; 10% of mushrooms are decomposed. Nutmeg, ground - 100 insect fragments per 10 grams; 1 rodent hair per 10 grams. Oregano, ground - 1250 insect fragments per 10 grams; 5 rodent hairs per 10 grams. Peanut butter - 30 insect fragments per 100 grams; 1 rodent hair per 100 grams. Pineapple, canned - mold count of 20% or more. Potato chips - 6% by weight contain rot. Sauerkraut - 50 thrips per 100 grams. Spinach, canned or frozen - 50 aphids, thrips or mites per 100 grams; 8 leaf miners per 100 grams. Tomatoes, canned - 10 fly eggs per 500 grams; 2 maggots per 500 grams. Tomato paste/pizza sauce - 20 fly eggs per 100 grams; 2 maggots per 100 grams. Defect Levels Handbook Enjoy!

BigVMan23 Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 That's the limit they can get up to, but most of what we eat probably doesn't reach those levels...most. With that said, yes there are all sorts of things in our food that we would rather not ingest, and not pleasant to think about.
