Portugal 1 France 0 - UEFA Euro Championship

Featured Replies

Portugal's first major championship victory. Ronaldo goes down early in the first half but when he went down it seemed to change the tenor of the match.

Pretty crazy trip Portugal had to get to the finals. They looked completely unimpressive and only beat Wales in regular time. To face the most impressive team of the tournament on their home turf and win without Ronaldo is crazy.

I think I am wrong to have considered Portugal so unimpressive. I think their defense is outstanding in a way that doesn't jump out to you. They just never had a fully realized offense this tournament except Ronaldo turning it on against Wales and finding the wild winner tonight.

They may have appeared methodical and unimpressive by the look test but Portugal is loaded with talent.

They have Nani and Renaldo but they also have the starting goalie and 3 others from Sporting, Fonte and Soares from Southhampton, Pepe from Real Madrid, Guerreiro from Dortmund, Sanches from Bayern and even more stars coming off the bench.

It's not like they just throw Renaldo out there with some jobbers and hope for the best.
