Basketball season for 2016/2017 should provide another exciting year. What should we expect from Burgin? Remember, please be constructive.

Coach Irvine did a great job with the Bulldogs last year, leading them to a 15-14 record after going 3-22 the previous year. Burgin loses 4 of its top 6 scorers, including the top 2 scorers in Tommy Lopresto (14.8) and Michael Raisor (13.4). Top returner is Jordan Hurst, who led the team in rebounds (10 per game) and was third in scoring (8.4). Micah Dunn (6.8 ppg) also returns. Questions I have for the upcoming season include: 1. Can Jordan and Micah pick up their scoring into 13-15 ppg range? 2. Who will step up and fill out the starting lineup?

Burgin typically fields a solid small school team. Their district is just so tough (Mercer, East & West Jessamine) that it's impossible to go to the region and the All-A is also strong (Danville, Somerset, Washington) that getting to the little tournament is also difficult. But Coach Irvine is a smart scheduler and it wouldn't surprise me to see them sitting near 15 wins again this season.
